History of the Sheriff

   Sheriff Franklin was born and raised in Elmore County in a law enforcement setting. His grandfather, father, and mother together shared 88 years of law enforcement experience that had a definite influence on his career choice. "Law Enforcement is literally the only profession I have ever been exposed to or had any interest in." - Sheriff Franklin

   Sheriff Franklin is a 1978 graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He completed a 14 week course at the Montgomery Advanced Police Academy and also 10 years at the local and state level prior to becoming sheriff in 1991.

   Sheriff Franklin currently resides in the Wallsboro Community on a farm. He is married to Jane, from South Carolina, and has a twin son and daughter.
